INSIDE:
- Inspect the house room by room. Painting walls, cleaning carpets & drapes and cleaning windows are a low cost way to freshen up a house to appeal to buyers.
- Get rid of unnecessary objects and clutter.
- A clean kitchen is always a necessity. Clear the refrigerator of messages, pictures, etc. Clear the counter tops; make sure they are free of unused appliances and other items.
- A sparkling bathroom sells homes. Again, clear the countertops, tubs, showers, and display a nice color coordination of towels.
- Rearrange or remove some of the furniture. Sparse furniture makes rooms look larger.
- Make your closet look larger by removing and storing away items.
- Take down cluttered picture arrangements on the walls. Patch and paint if needed.
- Add some fresh flowers in certain rooms like the living and kitchen areas.
- Create bright lighting. Open drapes and blinds. Leave lights on and add lamps to darker rooms.
- Have soft relaxing music on during open houses. The smell of fresh made cookies or scented candles helps to.
OUTSIDE:
- Fertilize, patch and get your lawn lush and green. Keep it regularly mowed and neatly trimmed.
- Trim all bushes and plants keeping them from blocking windows. Trim or remove trees and unruly branches. You can’t sell a house if you can’t see it.
- A fresh paint on the outside and on shutters is great. If in good shape a power wash can spruce up your homes look.
- Fresh flowers are appealing to the eye and add great color to the house exterior.
- Move garbage cans away from view and any clutter that has accumulated on perimeter of house.
- Clear patio decks of clutter like toys and excess furniture.
- Inspect, repair or replace screens and windows and keep them clean on the outside.
- Remember curb appeal sells and you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
